Islamabad: A significant development has taken place in the ongoing dispute between Pakistan and India over the hosting of the Champions Trophy. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has proposed the establishment of a permanent hybrid model between the two countries which will end the deadlock, under which teams from both countries will participate in ICC events and the Asia Cup.
According to sources, the PCB has proposed that if India does not tour Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, Pakistan will also not travel to India for any future ICC events. The PCB has sought a written guarantee from the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) that India will participate in the Champions Trophy under the proposed hybrid model And similarly, Pakistan will also participate in any future ICC tournament hosted by India under the same hybrid model.
The PCB believes that the hybrid model is a fair solution to the dispute, as it would allow both teams to participate in the tournament without compromising on their respective positions. The proposal has been forwarded to the BCCI, and it remains to be seen whether they will agree to the proposal.
The development comes as the deadline for the Champions Trophy schedule has expired, with the ICC, Pakistan, and India still locked in a stalemate over the hosting of the event. The PCB has maintained that it will not compromise on its stance, and if India does not tour Pakistan, Pakistan will also not travel to India for any future ICC events.
