Pakistan and India could once again be placed in the same group at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027, with the tournament schedule set to be unveiled in Cape Town on October 1.
According to media reports, the traditional rivals could feature in the same group when the 14-team World Cup gets underway next year. However, the grouping had not been officially confirmed at the time of reporting.
The 2027 World Cup will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The ICC has expanded the tournament to 14 teams and introduced a new three-stage format before the semi-finals and final.
The second stage will feature 12 teams divided into two groups of six, while the top sides will advance to the Super 7 stage. The tournament will conclude with semi-finals and a final.
The official schedule announcement is expected to take place in Cape Town on October 1 as the tournament enters its one-year countdown. The World Cup is scheduled to be played from October 2 to November 21, 2027.
