The Pakistan-India rivalry is already generating huge excitement ahead of the 2027 ICC Cricket World Cup, with more than 110,000 ticket applications submitted for the highly anticipated clash.

Overall demand for World Cup tickets has exceeded expectations in the initial phase, with more than 1.1 million applications received for matches across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia in less than three days.

The Pakistan-India fixture has emerged as the most sought-after match so far, attracting more than 110,000 ticket applications.

The match between South Africa and India has received more than 92,000 applications, while over 86,000 applications have been submitted for the India-Australia encounter.

The pre-seeded Super 7 match between Pakistan and India, scheduled for November 7, has also attracted significant interest, with approximately 78,000 applications received.

The November 21 World Cup final is another major attraction, with around 69,000 ticket applications submitted so far.

ICC Chief Executive Sanjog Gupta said that more than one million ticket applications within just over 48 hours demonstrated the growing popularity and global appeal of the Cricket World Cup.

He said major ICC events had evolved beyond sporting competitions, becoming global celebrations that bring together people from different cultures and regions.

Organising committee Chief Executive Kondisa Ngonyama also welcomed the unprecedented demand, saying the number of applications reflected the exceptional desire among cricket fans around the world to attend the tournament.

He said South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia were ready to welcome supporters from across the globe and promised an unforgettable World Cup experience both on and off the field.

Registration for the ticket ballot will remain open until 11:59pm Central African Time on November 21.

Entering the ballot is free, and fans are not required to make any payment during registration. Each person can apply once for each match and can submit applications for multiple matches.

The ticket ballot will not operate on a first-come, first-served basis. Therefore, applying early or later during the registration window will not affect an applicant’s chances of securing tickets.

If demand exceeds the number of tickets available for a particular match, successful applicants will be selected through a random ballot.

Both successful and unsuccessful applicants will be notified through the email address provided during registration.
