KARACHI – The Pakistan Hotels Association (PHA) held its 61st Annual General Meeting (AGM) on Thursday, September 25, 2025, at the Karachi Marriott Hotel. The event took place both in person and online. It marked a milestone in the Association’s efforts to strengthen Pakistan’s hospitality sector and align with regulatory frameworks.
The meeting was chaired by Mr. Shakir Abu Bakar Bhura, Chairman of PHA. He was joined by Barrister Mansoor Ali Shah, Vice Chairman (South), and Mr. Raza Abbas, Executive Committee Member. A large number of members, office bearers, and representatives attended the session.
At the outset, Chairman Shakir Bhura welcomed participants and thanked them for their continued engagement. He stressed that the Association remains committed to promoting industry standards. He also highlighted its role in safeguarding member interests and collaborating with government bodies on policy development.
The agenda covered confirmation of the previous AGM minutes, the Chairman’s Report for 2024–25, audited accounts approval, appointment of auditors for 2026, and amendments to the Association’s Memorandum and Articles of Association.
Members unanimously approved the audited accounts for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025. They also reappointed M/s. Sajid & Co., Chartered Accountants, as auditors for the year 2026. These decisions reflected PHA’s dedication to transparency and sound governance.
In addition, a major highlight was the adoption of amendments to the Association’s Memorandum and Articles of Association. These reforms complied with the DGTO Circular dated May 2, 2025. They also aligned the body with the Trade Organizations Act, 2013, Trade Organizations Rules, 2013, and SRO 525(1)/2016 issued by the Ministry of Commerce.
As a result, the Pakistan Hotels Association reinforced its role as a leading voice for the hospitality industry. It vowed to continue advocating for regulatory clarity, sustainable growth, and improved service standards.
The meeting concluded with a formal vote of thanks to the Chairman. Participants also appreciated the hospitality extended by the Karachi Marriott Hotel.
