Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) Selection Committee Chairman Samiullah Khan says reviving the country’s national sport will require two to three years of sustained effort, urging fans and the media to remain patient as reforms take effect.
The former Olympian said the current PHF administration has launched a long-term development plan aimed at rebuilding Pakistan hockey through youth development, improved training standards, and modern performance systems.
PHF Focuses on Long-Term Development
Samiullah Khan said the PHF, under the leadership of President Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani, is working to restore Pakistan hockey through practical and structured reforms.
He said the federation has reactivated the under-18, under-21, and senior national squads to identify and develop emerging talent.
Modern Training and Technology Introduced
According to the PHF official, both the men’s and women’s national teams are receiving equal access to training camps, modern facilities, and financial and administrative support.
He added that international-standard coaches have been engaged, while GPS-based performance monitoring technology has been introduced to help evaluate players and improve training standards. The federation has also upgraded accommodation, logistics, and other facilities for national players.
Fans Asked to Be Patient
Samiullah Khan said the decline of Pakistan hockey occurred over many years and cannot be reversed overnight.
He urged supporters, the media, and other stakeholders to judge the federation’s progress over time rather than expecting immediate results, expressing confidence that the PHF is moving in the right direction.
He also called on the hockey community to continue supporting players and administrators as efforts to rebuild the sport continue.
