ISLAMABAD: Payments of the second instalment under Pakistan’s government Hajj scheme are continuing, with 14,605 intending pilgrims completing their payments on the first day, the Ministry of Religious Affairs said on Tuesday.

According to a ministry spokesperson, 10,000 pilgrims paid the second instalment from home through the 1LINK system, while 899 used bank cards and 3,612 opted for manual bank challans.

The spokesperson said the share of online payments made through the Digital Hajj Portal had risen above 75 per cent, reflecting growing use of digital payment channels by applicants.

So far, Rs9.3 billion has been received under the second instalment of Hajj dues.

The ministry has set October 20 as the final date for payment of the second instalment under the government Hajj scheme.

Pilgrims are also required to upload their medical fitness certificate on the Hajj portal before making the second instalment payment.

The ministry has urged intending pilgrims to complete the required formalities within the deadline to avoid complications in their Hajj application process.
