ISLAMABAD — Pakistan’s fruit exports reached $251.947 million during the first eight months of FY2026, recording a 6.25% increase compared to the same period last year, according to the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS).

From July to February, the country exported 471,264 metric tons of fresh fruits, up from 462,292 metric tons valued at $237.130 million in the corresponding period of FY2025, reflecting steady growth in external demand.

In contrast, vegetable exports declined significantly during the same period. Shipments fell by 46.45% to 423,840 metric tons worth $121.681 million, compared to 803,849 metric tons valued at $227.224 million a year earlier, highlighting a sharp contraction in this segment.

On a year-on-year basis, fruit exports recorded modest growth of 1.24% in February 2026. The country exported 59,508 metric tons of fruits valued at $26.935 million, compared to 57,355 metric tons worth $26.204 million in February last year.

Vegetable exports during the same month saw a steep decline, with shipments dropping to 62,458 metric tons valued at $15.151 million, down from 286,072 metric tons worth $62.289 million in February 2025.

Overall food exports decline despite fruit growth

Despite gains in fruit exports, Pakistan’s overall food exports fell during the first eight months of FY2026. Total food exports stood at $3.394 billion, compared to $5.173 billion in the same period last year.

The data reflects a mixed performance in the agriculture export sector, where growth in fruit exports has been offset by a sharp decline in vegetable shipments.
