ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has said that Pakistan’s main concern about terrorist hideouts and sanctuaries inside Afghanistan remains high on the bilateral agenda.
FO spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said at the annual general briefing that Afghanistan remains a priority on Pakistan’s diplomatic cooperation agenda. “Business connectivity and people-to-people contact have been a priority in our engagement with Afghanistan,” she said.
“We had several incidents on the border with Afghanistan. Pakistan’s main concern of terrorist hideouts and sanctuaries inside Afghanistan remained high on our bilateral agenda,” she added.
The spokesman said Pakistan remains in touch with Afghan authorities on all priority issues and would like to deepen cooperation in trade, transit trade, security and border management.
The outgoing year 2024 remained an active year for Pakistan’s diplomatic and foreign policy scene, characterized by strengthened regional and global ties.
Baloch said, “Our diplomatic efforts throughout the year have been aimed at raising Pakistan’s international profile and strengthening relations with countries in all regions of the world.”
She said frequent high-level exchanges during the year strengthened our efforts as visits with Azerbaijan, China, Belarus, Belgium, Egypt, United Kingdom, Turkey, Iran, Jordan, Russia, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and others helped develop important understandings with these countries.
