BAKU, Sunday, September 20, 2026: Pakistan showcased its traditional clothing, truck art, jewellery and handicrafts at the National Clothing Day event in Baku, highlighting the country’s diverse cultural heritage and strengthening cultural ties with Azerbaijan.
The Embassy of Pakistan participated in the event organised by the “Icherisheher” State Historical-Architectural Reserve Administration, presenting a colourful display of Pakistani regional costumes and traditional craftsmanship.
According to the embassy, Pakistan’s traditional attire, jewellery, handicrafts and internationally recognised truck art attracted considerable interest and appreciation from visitors and participants.
Pakistan’s cultural diversity is reflected in distinct regional clothing, embroidery, jewellery and craftsmanship, with traditional attire continuing to serve as an important expression of the country’s cultural identity.
Pakistan joins multicultural showcase in Baku
The event brought together diplomatic missions from several countries, including China, South Korea, Iraq, Tajikistan, Malaysia, Indonesia and Russia.
Participating countries presented traditional costumes and national dances, turning the event into a wider celebration of cultural diversity and providing visitors with an opportunity to experience traditions from different parts of the world.
Azerbaijani government dignitaries, representatives of the country’s arts and literary communities and members of the diplomatic corps attended the event, according to the embassy.
Pakistan-Azerbaijan cultural ties
The Pakistani mission said its participation was aimed at promoting Pakistan’s cultural heritage while further strengthening longstanding cultural links between Pakistan and Azerbaijan.
Cultural engagement has remained one of the areas of interaction between the two countries. Pakistan maintains an embassy in Baku, currently headed by Ambassador Qasim Mohiuddin.
The National Clothing Day appearance adds to Pakistan’s cultural diplomacy efforts in Azerbaijan, providing a platform to introduce Pakistani traditions, craftsmanship and regional identity to Azerbaijani and international audiences.
