NAGOYA: Pakistan defeated China 3-0 in their third Pool B match of the men’s hockey competition at the 2026 Asian Games in Japan, securing their third consecutive victory in the tournament.
Pakistan produced a controlled performance against China, with all three goals coming during the second quarter.
Captain Abubakar Mahmood, Hannan Shahid and Sufyan Khan were on the scoresheet as Pakistan completed a 3-0 victory.
The win followed Pakistan’s earlier victories over Thailand and Uzbekistan. The team had opened its campaign with a 9-0 win over Thailand before defeating Uzbekistan 5-1.
The victory keeps Pakistan firmly in contention at the top of Pool B, alongside Malaysia, who also secured nine points after their matches on Thursday. Goal difference remains an important factor in the pool standings.
Pakistan entered the China match without forward Rana Waheed Ashraf, who was serving a one-match suspension. Reports said the suspension followed an incident in Pakistan’s match against Uzbekistan in which his stick struck an Uzbek player.
Pakistan will next face Malaysia on September 26, followed by their final Pool B match against Oman on September 28.
