Rawalpindi: On the occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day, the leadership of the Pakistan Armed Forces has reiterated Pakistan’s unwavering support for the people of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and their legitimate struggle for the right to self-determination.
In a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces; Admiral Naveed Ashraf, Chief of the Naval Staff; and Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, reaffirmed solidarity with the Kashmiri people on behalf of the armed forces of Pakistan.
The military leadership strongly condemned what it described as grave and systematic violations of human rights in IIOJK, including extrajudicial killings, enforced disappearances, arbitrary arrests, prolonged detentions, and efforts to alter the demographic and political character of the disputed territory. The statement said these actions reflect a blatant disregard for international law and universally accepted humanitarian norms.
Reiterating Pakistan’s long-standing position, the armed forces stressed that a just and durable resolution of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with United Nations Security Council resolutions and the aspirations of the Kashmiri people, remains critical for sustainable peace and stability in South Asia. The statement urged the international community to move beyond expressions of concern and take concrete and meaningful measures to end the suffering of the Kashmiri people.
The Pakistan Armed Forces reaffirmed their resolve to safeguard the country’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while continuing to stand shoulder to shoulder with their Kashmiri brothers and sisters in their struggle for freedom, dignity, and justice.
The statement concluded with a reaffirmation of national resolve, expressing solidarity with the people of Kashmir and renewing Pakistan’s commitment to their cause.
