KARACHI — The Pakistan Standards and Quality Control Authority (PSQCA) and a delegation from the China New Energy Industry Association held a high-level technical meeting on October 12, 2026, to discuss cooperation on standardising electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers in Pakistan.
The meeting focused on aligning Pakistan’s national quality standards with international benchmarks, particularly those developed by the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) and China’s GB/T standards, to support the safe adoption of electric vehicles (EVs) and promote sustainable economic growth.
During the session, the Chinese delegation, led by Chairman Niko Chan, introduced the association and presented proposals to expand electric two-wheeler and three-wheeler technologies in Pakistan. The delegation highlighted the potential economic and environmental benefits of electric mobility and sought PSQCA’s technical guidance on harmonising relevant standards.
Welcoming the delegation, PSQCA reaffirmed its commitment to promoting energy efficiency, product quality and regulatory compliance in Pakistan’s expanding EV sector. The authority’s technical team outlined national standardisation procedures, certification protocols and quality compliance requirements to help ensure the safe and reliable deployment of electric vehicles.
The PSQCA team was led by Director of Standards Gul Sanober, alongside technical officers Engr. Bashir Ahmed Unar of the Electrotechnical Division, Engr. Waqar Hassan of the Automobile Sector, and Khawaja Ghulam Mohidin of the Chemical and Materials Division.
Both sides expressed satisfaction with the discussions and agreed to maintain close technical coordination on standards mapping and regulatory compliance.
The collaboration aims to support the adoption of high-quality, standardised electric two-wheelers and three-wheelers in Pakistan, contributing to cleaner transportation, energy efficiency and sustainable development.
