The Pakistan Air Force is participating in the World Defence Show 2026 in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, presenting two of Pakistan’s indigenously developed aircraft: the JF-17 Thunder Block III multi-role fighter and the Super Mushshak basic trainer.
The international defence exhibition brings together military officials, defence manufacturers and industry leaders from around the world. Pakistan Air Force officials said the display highlights the country’s growing aerospace manufacturing capacity and its focus on offering operational and training solutions to partner nations.
Focus on combat and training capabilities
According to the PAF, the JF-17 Block III represents the latest evolution of the Thunder fighter programme, featuring modern avionics, an active electronically scanned array (AESA) radar, an enhanced electronic warfare suite and beyond-visual-range engagement capability. The aircraft is positioned as a 4.5-generation platform designed to meet contemporary air combat requirements.
Alongside the fighter jet, the Super Mushshak trainer aircraft is being showcased as part of Pakistan’s pilot training portfolio. The turboprop aircraft is used for basic flying training and has been inducted by several foreign air forces, with PAF officials citing its operational reliability, lower operating costs and ease of maintenance.
Engagement with international partners
The Pakistan Air Force said its participation at the exhibition reflects its broader objective of strengthening defence cooperation and engaging with international partners on training, technology exchange and potential collaboration. The event also provides an opportunity for visiting delegations to interact directly with PAF representatives and aircraft programme teams.
