ISLAMABAD: Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal on Thursday discussed the use of artificial intelligence and advanced oncology equipment to strengthen cancer diagnosis, surveillance and treatment in Pakistan under a proposed Chinese Grant-in-Aid programme.
The minister met Munir Ahmed, a representative of BIOS, an AI-native cancer surveillance and precision oncology company, to review options for introducing modern cancer-care technologies and improving access to quality treatment.
The discussions focused on how AI-based tools could support earlier detection, more accurate diagnosis and better treatment planning for cancer patients.
AI Technology Discussed for Cancer Surveillance
Officials also briefed the minister on the proposed provision of advanced oncology equipment to Pakistan through Chinese Grant-in-Aid.
Kamal stressed the importance of adopting modern technology, artificial intelligence and updated medical equipment to improve cancer diagnosis and treatment services.
He said innovative approaches should be explored to strengthen oncology care and improve patient outcomes across the country.
The minister welcomed the possibility of cooperation in the sector and highlighted the need to expand access to reliable, technology-driven healthcare services for cancer patients.
The meeting formed part of broader efforts to examine how emerging medical technologies can support Pakistan’s healthcare system, particularly in areas requiring specialized diagnosis and treatment.
