ADDIS ABABA — Ethiopia was prominently promoted as a globally competitive investment destination during the 5th Pakistan-Africa Business Development Summit and Conference, held at Millennium Hall in Addis Ababa. The event brought together over 110 business delegates from Pakistan alongside companies from across the African continent, signaling a new chapter in regional trade and investment cooperation.
Addressing the summit, Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, Alemu Sime Feyisa, emphasized that Ethiopia’s ongoing macroeconomic reforms are creating a robust and enabling environment for international investors. He noted that the summit reflects the strengthening of trade and investment ties between Africa and Pakistan, and positions Ethiopia as a key gateway to the continent’s emerging markets.
Ambassador Dawano Kedir, Director General for Middle East, Asia and Pacific Affairs at Ethiopia’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, highlighted the expanding bilateral relationship between Ethiopia and Pakistan, particularly in investment and development sectors. He reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to deepening strategic partnerships across Asia.
Former Ethiopian Ambassador to Pakistan, Jemal Beker, described the Pakistan-Africa Business Development Summit as a testament to the enduring relationship between the two nations. He underscored Ethiopia’s vast development potential and praised the growing cooperation between Pakistan and Africa as a driver of inclusive growth.
Leading the Pakistani delegation, Federal Minister of Commerce Jam Kamal Khan lauded Ethiopia’s trade prospects, consistent policy direction, and strategic location as the headquarters of the African Union. He stressed that these factors provide a solid foundation for collaborative policy linkages and long-term investment planning.
Pakistan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, Atif Sharif, echoed these sentiments, commending Ethiopia’s conducive investment climate and multifaceted development transformation. He expressed confidence that Pakistan’s engagement in Africa will continue to strengthen through platforms like the Pakistan-Africa Business Development Summit.
The summit concluded with renewed commitments to expand bilateral trade, explore joint ventures, and foster sustainable economic partnerships between Pakistan and Ethiopia.
