Peshawar: The Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, University of Peshawar organized a two-day workshop titled “Paigham-e-Aman” in collaboration with The Mirror of Society and Parindey, focusing on the promotion of peace, tolerance, and social harmony.
The workshop featured interactive lectures, group activities, and panel discussions aimed at exploring the role of education, community resilience, interfaith harmony, and media in peacebuilding processes.

On the first day, participants attended three sessions. Imran A. Sajid delivered a session on Introduction to Peace and Conflict Management, followed by a lecture on Philosophy of Peace by Samina Afridi from the Department of Philosophy. The third session, Community Resilience, was conducted by Mehnaz Gul, highlighting the importance of community strength in sustaining peace.
The second day opened with a panel discussion on Interfaith Harmony, moderated by Bakht Zaman Yousafzai. The panel included Syed Irfan Ashraf, Subhash Chandar, Auguston Jacob, and Umar Khan Utmanzai, who shared insights on fostering mutual respect and coexistence among faith communities.
This was followed by a session on Curriculum and Peace by Faizullah Jan, emphasizing the integration of peace education into academic curricula. The concluding session, Role of Media in Promoting Peace, was delivered by Ali Imran, who highlighted responsible journalism as a key driver of social harmony.
At the closing ceremony, Mehnaz Gul, Chairperson of the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, distributed certificates among participants. She praised the organizers for holding a timely and impactful workshop and acknowledged the valuable contributions of faculty members and panelists. She also expressed support for future collaborative initiatives aimed at promoting peace through education and media.
