LAHORE, June 9: OPPO Pakistan, in collaboration with the Punjab Mass Transit Authority (PMA) and NORINCO International, has launched Pakistan’s first fully branded metro train on the Lahore Orange Line Metro Train network.
The initiative introduces a new form of public-private collaboration in the country’s urban transport sector, combining brand engagement with one of Pakistan’s busiest mass transit systems. Officials say the project aims to enhance commuter experiences while highlighting cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese organizations.
The launch ceremony was held at the Orange Line Metro Depot in Lahore and was attended by representatives of OPPO Pakistan, the Punjab Mass Transit Authority, Orange Line Metro operations, NORINCO International and the Chinese Consulate in Lahore.
The event included a ribbon-cutting ceremony and the unveiling of the OPPO-themed train, including a specially branded carriage featuring the company’s latest smartphone campaign.
Partnership between technology and public transport
According to organizers, the branded train is designed to showcase innovation, connectivity and collaboration between the technology sector and public transport infrastructure.
Officials described the project as the first partnership of its kind between a global technology company and a public metro system in Pakistan, creating a new platform for passenger engagement within an urban transit environment.
George Long, Chief Executive Officer of OPPO Pakistan, said the initiative reflects the company’s efforts to engage with consumers beyond traditional product marketing and strengthen long-term collaboration opportunities in Pakistan.
Focus on commuter experience and innovation
Officials from the Punjab Mass Transit Authority said the project represents a step toward creating more engaging public spaces within the transport system and could encourage similar partnerships in the future.
The collaboration is expected to explore new opportunities for communication, technology integration and passenger experience improvements across public transport networks.
The OPPO-themed train will operate throughout the Lahore Orange Line Metro network, which serves thousands of commuters daily across the city.
Symbol of Pakistan-China cooperation
The Orange Line Metro Train, developed with Chinese cooperation, remains one of Pakistan’s most prominent urban transport projects. Officials said the latest initiative reflects broader collaboration between Pakistan and China in infrastructure, technology and public engagement.
The partners stated that the project demonstrates how cooperation between public institutions and private-sector organizations can be used to introduce new experiences within urban mobility systems while supporting innovation and community engagement.
