KARACHI: The federal government has announced plans to establish a large-scale Grand Khidmat Markaz in Karachi, where citizens will be able to access several important government services under one roof.
The centre will operate under the Ministry of Interior and is expected to offer dedicated counters for various departments and institutions working under the ministry.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi said the proposed facility will provide services including passport issuance, National Identity Card services, NADRA Direct, arms licences and No Objection Certificates (NOCs) at a single location.
The announcement was made during the minister’s visit to the Ministry of Interior office on II Chundrigar Road in Karachi.
Naqvi directed officials to prepare a detailed master plan for the Grand Khidmat Markaz within the next 10 days. He said the plan should take into account citizens’ needs as well as modern service-delivery requirements.
The interior minister also ordered authorities to complete the necessary administrative and technical arrangements on an urgent basis to facilitate the early establishment of the centre.
