An Indian yoga instructor living in Vietnam has reportedly set a world record by completing 86 underwater push-ups while holding his breath.
Thirty-eight-year-old Kamal Kaloi performed the physically demanding feat at a swimming pool in Vietnam, demonstrating exceptional breath control, endurance and upper-body strength.
According to the report, Guinness World Records formally recognised the attempt after reviewing video recordings and other evidence submitted by Kaloi.
The record required him to remain completely underwater and perform all 86 push-ups without resurfacing for air.
Special Training Behind the Record
Kaloi credited his achievement to years of physical conditioning, calisthenics and specialised breath-holding exercises.
He said the combination of strength training and breath-control practice enabled him to remain underwater long enough to complete the challenge.
Underwater physical activity can rapidly increase the body’s demand for oxygen, making the achievement particularly demanding.
However, breath-holding exercises in water can be dangerous and should not be attempted without professional supervision, trained safety personnel and proper medical precautions.
Previous Guinness World Record
This is not Kaloi’s first reported Guinness World Records achievement.
In 2020, he reportedly completed 21 different yoga poses underwater on a single breath, earning international recognition for the unusual performance.
Speaking about his motivation, Kaloi said he had always wanted to accomplish something distinctive. Watching other people achieve world records inspired him to test his own physical and mental limits.
He said prolonged training, physical fitness and disciplined breath-control practice played central roles in helping him achieve the latest milestone.
The 86-push-up record has attracted attention online, with viewers praising his stamina, body control and commitment to training.
