Years after the death of legendary Bollywood actor Om Puri, his first wife Seema Kapoor has shared new claims about their marriage, bringing the late actor’s personal life back into the spotlight.
In a recent interview, Seema Kapoor alleged that one day before their wedding, Om Puri privately told her that he had previously been involved in a relationship with a woman who worked in his household.
According to Kapoor, the revelation left her deeply shocked. However, with all wedding arrangements already completed, she decided to go ahead with the marriage instead of calling it off at the last moment.
She further claimed that their relationship became increasingly strained after the wedding. Kapoor also alleged that Om Puri later grew close to Nandita Puri, which, according to her, further affected their marriage.
Seema Kapoor said the marriage eventually ended while she was pregnant. She also claimed that the emotional stress during that period led to the loss of her unborn child and that she did not receive the emotional support she needed from Om Puri.
It is important to note that these are allegations made by Seema Kapoor in a recent interview and have not been independently verified.
Om Puri and Seema Kapoor married in 1990 but separated a few years later. In 1993, Om Puri married Nandita Puri, with whom he had a son, Ishaan Puri. Their relationship also faced public controversies over the years.
Widely regarded as one of India’s finest actors, Om Puri delivered memorable performances in films including Ardh Satya, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Maachis, Chachi 420, and East Is East. He passed away on January 6, 2017, at the age of 66 following a heart attack.
