ISLAMABAD — National University of Sciences & Technology (NUST) has emerged as Pakistan’s leading institution in the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2026, recording notable gains across multiple disciplines and reinforcing its position in higher education.
According to the latest rankings, NUST made a significant jump in Computer Science, climbing 50 places globally from 164th in 2025 to 114th in 2026. The university also retained its top position in Pakistan in the broad field of Engineering and Technology, reflecting continued strength in core technical disciplines.
Gains across engineering, computing and sciences
NUST maintained a strong global presence in key engineering and computing subjects, ranking within the top 150–200 worldwide. It also secured positions in the 300–350 range across a broader set of disciplines, including Natural Sciences, indicating steady performance across both established and emerging fields.
Improvement in social sciences and new subject inclusion
In Social Sciences and Management, the university improved its global ranking from 361 to 335, pointing to increased research output and academic impact. It also achieved its first-ever inclusion in Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, marking an expansion into rapidly growing academic areas.

Overall, NUST is now ranked in 21 subjects globally — the highest number achieved by any Pakistani university — highlighting its expanding multidisciplinary footprint and sustained academic performance.
