Newly elected body outlines reforms to modernize journalism and expand global engagement

Islamabad — April 03, 2026: The newly elected executive body of the National Press Club (NPC) was formally welcomed at a reception in Islamabad, where its leadership outlined an ambitious roadmap to modernize Pakistan’s media landscape and strengthen its global outreach.

The event, hosted by the Diplomatic Insight Group, brought together journalists, media professionals, and policy stakeholders, marking a significant transition within one of the country’s most prominent journalistic institutions.

Speaking on the occasion, Asif Noor, Chief Executive Officer of Diplomatic Insight Group, highlighted the importance of collaboration between media, research, and diplomatic platforms. He described the National Press Club as a key pillar in shaping public discourse and fostering informed national debate.

“In an era where credibility is paramount, institutions like the NPC play a critical role in maintaining public trust and promoting responsible journalism,” Noor said, reaffirming his organization’s commitment to supporting the media community.

The Diplomatic Insight Group, which operates across media, research, and policy domains through platforms such as *The Diplomatic Insight*, *DiploTV*, and the Institute of Peace and Diplomatic Studies, emphasized its mission of promoting “peace through informed dialogue” and strengthening Pakistan’s global narrative.

NPC President Abdul Razaq Sial, in his address, thanked the hosts and shared a forward-looking vision focused on transforming the press club into a digitally driven institution. He stressed the need for Pakistani journalism to adapt to the evolving global media environment.

Among the key initiatives announced were plans for a new, state-of-the-art NPC building, the introduction of a biometric database aimed at enhancing transparency within the journalist community, and the launch of international training programmes and fellowships to equip journalists with modern skills.

The event was moderated by Dr. Farhat Asif and attended by members of the newly elected NPC cabinet, including Secretary Dr. Furqan Rao, Finance Secretary Abid Abbasi, and Vice President Bashir Chaudhary, along with a large number of journalists.

Participants reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening Pakistan’s media sector through innovation, professionalism, and international collaboration, with a shared focus on promoting informed and impactful storytelling.
