North Waziristan AC among four killed in attack on official convoy

BANNU / DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Four people, including North Waziristan Assistant Commissioner Shah Wali Khan, were killed and three police personnel injured on Tuesday when unidentified attackers opened fire on his convoy in Masoomabad Mamand Khel.

Attack on convoy along Bannu–Miranshah Road

Officials said the North Waziristan AC was travelling with his security staff when the convoy came under fire. Two police officers and a passerby were also killed. The attackers seized weapons from the security team and set the official vehicle ablaze before fleeing.

The injured driver and police officers were moved to the District Headquarters Hospital. Police later launched a search operation in the surrounding area and began collecting forensic evidence.

Provincial officials express grief over the killings

In separate statements, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Governor Faisal Karim Kundi and former chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur expressed sorrow over the deaths and offered condolences to the families. They prayed for the victims and for the recovery of the injured.

Officials highlight continuing security challenges

Governor Kundi said the North Waziristan incident underscored ongoing security concerns in the region and stressed the need for coordinated action by federal and provincial authorities alongside security forces to restore stability.
