ISLAMABAD: Pakistan has approved UK-based Norse Atlantic Airways to operate direct passenger flights to Islamabad, expanding air connectivity between the United Kingdom and Pakistan.
With the approval, Norse Atlantic becomes the second British carrier—after British Airways—to receive authorization for direct services to the country. Defence Minister Khawaja Asif confirmed that the airline plans to operate flights from London, Manchester, and Birmingham, cities with large Pakistani communities and sustained travel demand.
He said the entry of additional international carriers would increase competition, improve service quality, and help stabilize airfares for passengers. The new routes are expected to benefit business travellers, families, and tourists, while strengthening people-to-people and commercial links between the two countries.
Officials said the approval aligns with Pakistan’s broader efforts to attract foreign airlines and strengthen its aviation sector. Direct connectivity from multiple UK hubs is seen as a key step in meeting rising travel demand and supporting long-term economic and social ties between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
