Pakistan spinner Noman Ali becomes the oldest player in Test cricket history to reach 100 wickets against Bangladesh.

DHAKA: Pakistan spinner Noman Ali became the oldest cricketer in Test history to complete 100 wickets during the first Test against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium.

The left-arm spinner achieved the milestone after dismissing Bangladesh all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz. He also claimed the wickets of Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto and Taijul Islam during the match.

At 39 years and 217 days, Noman Ali surpassed former England spinner Bobby Peel, who had reached the 100-wicket mark at the age of 39 years and 180 days in 1896.

Noman also became the joint fourth-fastest Pakistan bowler to complete 100 Test wickets, reaching the landmark in his 22nd Test match.

Fastest Pakistan bowlers to 100 Test wickets

Former leg-spinner Yasir Shah remains Pakistan’s fastest bowler to reach 100 Test wickets, achieving the feat in 17 matches.

Other Pakistan bowlers on the list include Saeed Ajmal, Waqar Younis, Mohammad Asif and Saqlain Mushtaq.

England’s George Lohmann still holds the world record for the fastest bowler to complete 100 Test wickets, reaching the milestone in 16 matches.

Noman Ali’s achievement adds another major milestone to Pakistan cricket as the veteran spinner continues to play a key role in the national Test side.
