ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari conferred the Nishan-e-Imtiaz on UAE Naval Chief Staff Major General Humaid Abdulla Alremeithi at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Monday.
Honoring Defence Cooperation
President Zardari said the award recognized General Alremeithi’s outstanding role in strengthening defence and security cooperation between Pakistan and the UAE. He highlighted that the visit of the UAE Naval Chief symbolized the deep-rooted friendship between the two brotherly nations.
Expanding Maritime Collaboration
The president appreciated the UAE Navy’s active participation in Aman Dialogue-25 and Exercise Aman-25. He said such engagements reinforced regional maritime security and promoted collective stability. Furthermore, he assured that Pakistan would continue to support the UAE Navy in training and manpower development.
Long-Standing Bilateral Ties
Zardari underlined that Pakistan-UAE relations were “extraordinary and exemplary.” He added that the partnership was built not only on shared strategic interests but also on enduring people-to-people connections. He reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to further strengthen these historic ties.
UAE Naval Chief’s Remarks
General Alremeithi expressed gratitude to Pakistan for the honor. He recalled his years at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi, where he spent four years during his graduation. He emphasized that the recognition symbolized trust, friendship, and the strong military bond between the two countries.

The ceremony was attended by Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif, former Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf, former Senate Chairman Nayyar Hussain Bukhari, and Chief of Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf. Their presence reflected the importance attached to Pakistan-UAE defence cooperation at the highest levels.
