LAHORE, Feb 18: The National Grid Company of Pakistan (NGC) has completed planned maintenance at key transmission facilities across the country to reinforce grid reliability ahead of Ramzan-ul-Mubarak and the upcoming summer season.
According to the company, Asset Management teams carried out preventive maintenance at several high-voltage grid stations to minimize the risk of unplanned outages during the high-demand period.
Maintenance at major grid stations
NGC teams performed busbar maintenance at the 500kV Nokhar Grid Station, circuit breaker overhauls at the 220kV Kala Shah Kaku Grid Station, and servicing of the on-load tap changer on a 250 MVA autotransformer at the 220kV Sarfraznagar Grid Station.
Additionally, overhauling of the on-load tap changer on a 160 MVA autotransformer was completed at the 500kV Jamshoro Grid Station.
NGC spokesperson Muhammad Ibrahim said proactive maintenance plays a crucial role in preventing unexpected power disruptions. He stated that completing the work before Ramzan would help ensure stable and uninterrupted electricity transmission during a period of increased consumption.
Oversight and coordination
To maintain operational standards, NGC management has assigned special responsibilities to General Manager (Asset Management) North Engr Anees Ahmed and General Manager (Asset Management) South Engr Muhammad Rafiq to oversee ongoing maintenance activities nationwide.
The company said it conducts scheduled maintenance throughout the year as part of its commitment to ensuring safe, reliable and efficient transmission services for consumers and distribution companies.
The completion of the pre-Ramzan maintenance program is aimed at enhancing grid stability during the peak demand season.
