Neymar ruled out as Endrick returns to Brazil squad

Neymar has been left out of Brazil’s squad for upcoming international friendlies after head coach Carlo Ancelotti said the forward is not fully fit.

Brazil will face France on March 27 in Boston and Croatia on March 31 in Orlando as part of their preparations ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Neymar, who plays for Santos, has not featured for Brazil since October 2023 due to a knee injury, although he has recently returned to club action. Ancelotti said the decision to omit him was based on fitness concerns but left the door open for his inclusion in the final World Cup squad.

Endrick earns recall

Nineteen-year-old Endrick has been recalled to the national team after a series of strong performances during his loan spell at Lyon from Real Madrid.

Endrick, who last played for Brazil a year ago, has made 14 international appearances and is seen as part of the team’s long-term plans.

Injury concerns in squad

Brazil will also be without Rodrygo and Bruno Guimaraes, both sidelined due to injuries.

Ancelotti has included two uncapped players in the squad — Brentford striker Igor Thiago and Bournemouth teenager Rayan.

World Cup preparations

Brazil are preparing for the upcoming World Cup, where they will begin their campaign against Morocco on June 13 in New Jersey, followed by group matches against Haiti and Scotland.

The five-time world champions are aiming to secure their first World Cup title since 2002.
