ISLAMABAD: Electricity consumers across Pakistan will receive relief after the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (Nepra) approved a reduction of Rs1.98 per unit in power tariffs under the quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism.
According to a notification issued by the regulator, the reduction is based on quarterly adjustments for the period from January to March 2026 and will remain effective from June through August 2026.
The tariff cut will benefit consumers nationwide and is expected to provide more than Rs67 billion in financial relief during the three-month period.
Officials said the revised rates will also apply to consumers served by K-Electric, extending the relief to electricity users in Karachi and surrounding areas.
The quarterly tariff adjustment mechanism allows electricity prices to be revised periodically based on changes in power generation costs, fuel expenses and other sector-related factors.
The latest reduction comes as households and businesses continue to face economic pressures, with lower electricity rates expected to ease a portion of their monthly utility expenses.
Nepra’s decision will be reflected in electricity bills issued during the applicable period, subject to the regulator’s notified terms and conditions.
