ISLAMABAD, Jan 12, 2026: Chief of the Naval Staff Naveed Ashraf, in his capacity as Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of the Board of Governors (BoG) of Bahria University, chaired the university’s 55th BoG meeting at the Bahria University Head Office in Islamabad, where key academic, research, and institutional decisions were reviewed and approved.
The meeting focused on the university’s ongoing academic reforms, strategic development plans, and initiatives aimed at aligning education and research with evolving digital and societal needs. University officials briefed the board on flagship programmes, research output, and innovation-driven learning models, underscoring their relevance to students and the wider academic community.

Academic reforms and policy approvals
During the session, the Board approved the reorganization of the Bahria Business School and ratified a revised policy for Psychological Service Centers to strengthen student support and overall community wellbeing. Amendments to university statutes and academic regulations were also approved as part of broader governance and quality assurance measures.
The Board was also briefed on progress related to strategic innovation projects, including developments at the Pakistan Maritime Science and Technology Park, which aims to support research and collaboration in maritime sciences.
International collaboration and institutional outlook
The meeting reviewed authorization for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with the China Sinology Center, formally executed in Beijing, to support the development of a research facility at Bahria University’s Lahore Campus. The collaboration is intended to enhance academic exchange and research capacity.
Addressing the Board, Admiral Naveed Ashraf expressed confidence in the university’s leadership and its direction, emphasizing the importance of introducing quality initiatives aligned with emerging academic and research needs. He also highlighted character building, moral values, civic sense, and personal development as central to the university’s vision of holistic education alongside academic excellence.
The meeting was attended by Board members, including Rector Bahria University Abid Hameed, senior academicians, the vice chancellor, senior naval and civil officers, and members of the university’s top management.
