After 2022 floods the international organizations and experts have started making predictions that there may be more floods and landslides in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as a result of which there is a fear of severe floods in the plains of Punjab and Sindh.
On the other hand due to deforestation and global warming, the melting of glaciers will also accelerate but no government including international organizations has paid attention to it and now the dangerous period has begun which experts have been aware of for a long time.
Yesterday the administration has expressed the fear of collapse of Laspur Valley Lake in Kohistan area ofKhyber Pakhtunkhwa. According to the experts there is a risk of collapse of Laspur Lake in Kumrat valley due to which there is a possibility of major disaster.
In this regard PDMA has informed the district administration in writing about the situation, Laspur Lake has been filled with water. The collapse of which can cause a lot of destruction so the local areas should be evacuated. Remember that this risk will not be limited only to the Kumrat. If the process of deforestation and global warming continues in this way and the international community does not help Pakistan to prevent it, then the disaster will spread which cannot even be imagined at present.
According to media reports a new series of rains are starting from October 5 in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. In this regard, the Meteorological Department says that a new series of rains will continue from October 5 to October 8 in the upper regions of the country. Rains may cause fresh floods in eastern Punjab and northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
NDMA’s Urban Flooding has warned that more rains are expected in Pakistan, Mehr Sahibzad Khan Director General of the Meteorological Department told that it is expected that the new series of rains will continue from 5 to 8 October. Apart from this while mentioning the situation of water reservoirs in the country the Director General of Meteorological Department said that due to heavy rains, Tarbela Dam has filled up to 86% while Mangla Dam has filled up to 76%.
According to NDMA, from July 1 to September 347 people, including 176 children and women have been killed in the country so far due to heavy rains. The floods caused severe damage to the infrastructure and economy in Pakistan 1700 people died due to this flood while millions were displaced.
The district administration Dir upper has instructed the people of Kumrat River and Panjkora River to move to safe places. From the above mentioned situations, it can be estimated that how much caution we need to take but if the measures by the governments are taken into consideration, then they are not equal to the salt in the flour.
In that regard no lesson has been learned from the disastrous floods of 2010 till 2022 and the OPs are not being implemented at all in the mountainous areas. In spite of court orders and decisions encroachment construction continued on the banks of the rivers, while deforestation is also being done with brush, which has greatly increased the chances of landslides. While illegal constructions in the way of water also pose a threat to precious lives. Therefore it is necessary to stop the illegal constructions first and on the other hand to stop the process of cutting down the forests and mountains in Margalla and other important areas which are damaging the natural environment so that the process of landslides can be stopped.
Until the illegal encroachments in the country are not eliminated the country will continue to suffer from storms and storms. As a result of global warming, the melting of glaciers has accelerated in Pakistan. So to deal with that the international community needs to fulfill its promises to the third world, including Pakistan besides announce financial aid for them as soon as possible.
There is a need to release so that the damages caused in South Asia due to the heat produced by the big countries can be recovered and the infrastructure restoration work can be started quickly, otherwise millions of people are likely to be affected in the coming winter.
