COAS Briefs National Security Workshop Participants on Regional Threats and Pakistan’s Strategic Priorities

RAWALPINDI — Participants of the National Security Workshop–27 (NSW-27) visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) on Wednesday, where they were briefed on Pakistan’s internal and regional security landscape and the wider national security environment.

Security Forces Detail Evolving Regional and Domestic Security Challenges

During the visit, the delegation held an interactive session with Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, NI (M), HJ, Chief of Army Staff (COAS). The COAS highlighted the fluid and rapidly shifting regional environment shaped by intensifying geopolitical competition, cross-border terrorism, and modern hybrid threats.

He stressed that despite multifaceted challenges—ranging from externally supported militancy to information-centric warfare—Pakistan’s Armed Forces, intelligence institutions, and law-enforcement agencies continue to demonstrate professionalism, resilience, and an unshakeable commitment to national defence.

COAS Highlights Pakistan’s Strategic Significance at National Security Workshop 

Field Marshal Asim Munir reiterated that Pakistan is a “country of consequence,” destined to secure its rightful place among the nations of the world. He added that the professionalism and resolve shown during Marka-e-Haq has elevated Pakistan’s standing at the global level.

He emphasized that national unity remains Pakistan’s greatest source of strength, stating that together, the nation will defeat the nefarious designs of its adversaries.

National Actions Against Smuggling and Illegal Networks Reviewed

Participants were also briefed on state-level measures to curb smuggling, narcotics trafficking, and organised criminal networks that undermine internal stability. Officials shared updates on strengthened border control measures and the repatriation of illegal foreigners as part of efforts to reinforce internal security and safeguard national interests.

Protection of Citizens the Army’s Highest Priority

The COAS reaffirmed that Pakistan Army places the highest priority on the territorial integrity of the country and the protection of all citizens, underscoring that this commitment “will not be compromised under any circumstances.”

COAS Calls for Institutional Synergy for Long-Term Stability

Concluding the session, the COAS reaffirmed the Army’s full support to federal and provincial governments, noting that coordinated national efforts and institutional synergy are essential for long-term peace, stability, and economic recovery.
