ISLAMABAD: The federal government has reduced profit rates on key National Savings schemes, including Defence Savings Certificates (DSC) and Behbood Savings Certificates (BSC), with revised rates taking effect in September 2026.
The revised Defence Savings Certificate rate has been reduced to 11.61%, from 11.94%. The certificate carries a 10-year maturity period. On an investment of Rs100,000, the payable amount rises to Rs110,000 after one year and reaches Rs300,000 at maturity after 10 years under the revised schedule.

The Behbood Savings Certificate rate has also been reduced to 12.60%, from 12.96%. Under the revised rate, an investment of Rs100,000 generates Rs1,050 in monthly profit, equivalent to Rs12,600 annually before any applicable considerations.
The Behbood scheme is designed particularly for groups including widows and senior citizens. National Savings lists the scheme among its specialised savings products.
The latest revisions are part of a broader adjustment to National Savings products. The Central Directorate of National Savings reduced rates on several certificates and accounts in September, while some short-term and Islamic savings products moved in the opposite direction.
