RAWALPINDI: Pakistan fast bowler Naseem Shah has expressed confidence that the best phase of his cricket career is still to come, saying experience, maturity and avoiding injuries are crucial to improving performance.
Speaking in an interview, Naseem said a player’s understanding of the game changes with time. He explained that young fast bowlers tend to focus more on bowling at high pace, while with experience, understanding strategy and the purpose behind each delivery becomes equally important.
The Pakistan pacer said returning from an injury requires a player to start again, making a proper rehabilitation programme, understanding one’s body and support from the medical team essential.
Naseem also said modern white-ball cricket requires fast bowlers to continuously improve their skills to meet the demands of different pitches and high-scoring matches.
He added that understanding batters’ strategies, putting them under pressure and becoming more skilful are increasingly important qualities for fast bowlers in the modern game.
