Nana Patekar Reportedly Chose Farmers’ Welfare Over Luxury Car

MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Nana Patekar has long been associated with social welfare initiatives, and a reported account of his decision to prioritize assistance for farmers over a luxury car purchase has once again drawn attention to his humanitarian work.

According to writer Ranbir Pushp, Patekar was once planning to purchase a vehicle reportedly worth around Rs150 million when he saw reports about the hardships faced by families affected by farmer suicides.

Pushp said Patekar subsequently abandoned the plan to buy the car and decided to use the money to support families in need.

According to the account, Patekar instructed an associate to prepare cheques of Rs15,000 each for affected families so that they could receive immediate financial assistance.

Patekar later expanded his social welfare activities by establishing the Naam Foundation, which has worked on initiatives supporting farmers and economically vulnerable families.

The reported decision to redirect spending toward people facing financial hardship has been cited as an example of Patekar’s involvement in social welfare alongside his career in the Indian film industry.
