For the convenience of the citizens in Karachi, the capital of Sindh and the largest city of Pakistan, the government has decided to set up passport offices in two mega centers of NADRA.
According to an Express News report, passport services will now be available at NADRA Mega Center 5 Star Chowrangi and NADRA Mega Center Siemens Chowrangi (SITE).
The government has decided to reduce the burden on the central passport office by providing alternative centers for passport services.
The initiative was finalized during the recent visit of Director General Passport Mustafa Jamal Qazi to Karachi where the plan to set up passport offices at NADRA centers was discussed.
Sources said passport services will also be introduced at around 11 mega centers of NADRA across Pakistan, including Karachi.
Earlier, during a surprise visit to the 24/7 passport office Karachi at Awami Markaz and NADRA Defense Mega Centre, Naqvi interacted with passport and identity card applicants. He asked about the process and citizens expressed satisfaction and praised the efficiency of the system.
Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has assured that the delay in issuance of passports is being resolved and citizens are now receiving their passports within the stipulated time frame.
Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi reiterated that the delay in issuance of passports was being addressed and ensured timely delivery.
In addition, Mustafa Jamal Qazi, Director General of Immigration and Passports, confirmed that the backlog of passports across Pakistan has been successfully cleared.
During an earlier visit to the passport production unit, the Directorate General reviewed the printing and issuing processes and shared an update on the progress. Since July 1, a record 3,376,510 passports have been printed, including 776,451 in the normal category, 1,896,403 in the urgent category and 703,656 in the fast-track category.
The headquarters attributed this success to the tireless efforts and dedication of the production team, who worked tirelessly to meet the huge demand. After the backlog was cleared, citizens were advised to collect their passports directly from regional passport offices without waiting for notification via message or email as the delivery process was complete.
