PESHAWAR, October 30, 2026: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has arrested another suspect in an ongoing investigation into alleged corruption and embezzlement in the provincial health sector, involving reported losses of more than Rs1.5 billion to the national exchequer.

According to a NAB KP press release, the arrested suspect, identified as Irfan-ul-Haq, son of Abdul Haq, is allegedly involved in the corruption case against former Director General Health Services Dr Shoukat Ali and other accused persons.

The investigation concerns alleged financial irregularities and embezzlement in MCC 2023–24, particularly in the procurement of emergency and lifesaving medicines.

NAB alleged that Irfan-ul-Haq, in collusion with other accused persons, misappropriated millions of rupees during the procurement process.

The bureau said the suspect had absconded after the investigation began and repeatedly changed his location to evade arrest and avoid legal proceedings.

NAB KP said further arrests were expected as the investigation continued.

The accountability bureau also disclosed that several other accused persons had submitted applications seeking plea bargains or permission to become approvers in the case.

The investigation remains ongoing as NAB pursues proceedings against those allegedly involved in the health sector corruption case.
