Former federal minister and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) provincial general secretary Murtaza Javed Abbasi has said that imposing an emergency in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was not an easy decision, while accusing the provincial government of failing to protect the public from terrorism.

Expressing his views, Abbasi alleged that instead of supporting the people, the provincial government had become a facilitator for terrorists. He claimed that ineffective governance had left residents across the province vulnerable to security threats.

He also criticised Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), accusing its leaders and supporters of spreading hostile narratives against the country’s armed forces. He alleged that the party had prioritised political confrontation with the federal government over addressing public concerns.

According to Abbasi, the imposition of the emergency had brought relief to many residents of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. He accused the previous provincial administration of diverting public resources towards political gatherings, entertainment activities and sit-ins rather than focusing on public welfare.

Abbasi further alleged widespread corruption in public development projects and claimed that some ministers and assembly members had collected large sums of money from citizens in exchange for jobs and transfers.

He maintained that many residents were relieved following the change in the province’s political leadership.

The remarks reflect Abbasi’s criticism of PTI and the provincial government. The allegations concerning terrorism, corruption and the misuse of public funds were made by Abbasi and were not independently substantiated in the provided statement.
