Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has reportedly registered for the Afghanistan Premier League player draft, while the PCB has decided not to issue NOCs to Pakistani players seeking to participate.

KARACHI: Former Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Amir has registered for the Afghanistan Premier League (APL) player draft, reportedly submitting his name as a British citizen.

According to sources, Amir’s British citizenship means he may not require a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to participate in the tournament.

British Citizenship May Affect NOC Requirement

Amir reportedly registered for the event after obtaining a British passport. His registration comes amid the PCB’s reported decision not to issue NOCs to Pakistani players wishing to take part in the Afghanistan Premier League.

The development could create different circumstances for Amir compared with Pakistani players who remain subject to the PCB’s NOC requirements.

Pakistani Players Also Register for Draft

Despite the PCB’s reported position, several Pakistani cricketers have already registered for the player draft, according to sources.

The Afghanistan Premier League player draft is scheduled to take place on November 3, 2026. Further details about player selections and participation are expected to emerge after the draft.

Amir’s registration does not, by itself, confirm his selection for a team or his participation in the tournament.
