According to foreign media reports, Meta’s photo-sharing app Instagram plans to offer content creators monthly bonuses ranging from $10,000 to $50,000. However, the condition is that creators must post their videos on Instagram Reels before any other platform, including TikTok.
Meta has not yet responded to this report, nor is it clear how users have reacted to this new program or its potential impact.
Previously, Meta has offered financial incentives to attract users to its platforms, but such incentives are often temporary. For instance, the Reels Play Bonus Program, similar to TikTok’s Creator Fund, was discontinued. Similarly, the funds under this new program are unlikely to last long.
This isn’t Instagram’s first move to draw TikTok users. Over the past few days, Instagram has introduced significant changes, such as replacing the square grid design with a rectangular layout for Reels videos.
Additionally, Instagram has launched a new video editing app called “Edits,” designed to compete with TikTok’s CapCut app. The duration of Reels videos has also been increased from 90 seconds to 3 minutes.
Meta hoped that a TikTok ban in the U.S. would help boost Instagram’s user base. However, TikTok was reinstated within a day. As of now, the app remains unavailable for download from U.S. app stores.
