H.E. Abdul Qadir Suleiman Al-Himeiri, Head of Mission, Embassy of the Republic of Iraq, called on Mr. Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad, and DG Civil Defence at CDA Headquarters. The meeting held in a very cordial atmosphere in which matters of mutual interest came under discussion with a particular emphasis on furthering cooperation and establishing city level linkages.

H.E. Abdul Qadir Suleiman Al-Himeiri appreciated CDA’s significant initiatives and efforts under the leadership of Muhammad Ali Randhawa, Chiarman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad and DG Civil Defence in maintaining the capital’s development, beautifcation, and environmental sustainability.

The meeting focused on formalization of the twinning arrangement between Baghdad and Islamabad.

H. E. Abdul Qadir Suleiman Al-Himeiri, Head of Mission, Embassy of the Republic of Iraq, agreed on the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to declare Baghdad and Islamabad as sister cities, aimed at fostering enduring people-to-people contacts, cultural exchange, and collaboration in municipal management and urban regeneration as MOU will pave the way for structured engagement in areas such as heritage conservation, infrastructure development, beautification of public spaces, and knowledge-sharing in sustainable urban planning.

Abdul Qadir Suleiman Al-Himeiri, Head of Mission, Embassy of the Republic of Iraq,
expressed keen interest in sharing relevant experience and exploring opportunities for joint initiatives to strengthen economic, cultural, and tourism ties.

On this occasion, Chairman CDA, Chief Commissioner Islamabad and DG Civil Defence Muhammad Ali Randhawa apprised H.E. Abdul Qadir Suleiman Al-Himeiri, about upgradation and modernization of Diplomatic Enclave on the directions of Federal Minister for Interior Mohsin Naqvi in order to make diplomatic enclave at par with international standards, with a view to establishing it as a secure and distinguished hub for diplomatic missions and cultural engagement. He said that renowned landscaping experts and architects are being engaged to uplift the Diplomatic Enclave in line with international standards, further enhancing its development and beautification of the area. H.E Abdul Qadir Suleiman Al-Himeiri appreciated CDA’s step towards uplifting Diplomatic Enclave.

At the conclusion of the meeting, Muhammad Ali Randhawa reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to cultivating a robust partnership with the Republic of Iraq anchored in shared values, mutual respect and cooperation. H.E. Mr. Abdul Qadir Suleiman Al-Himeiri assured full support in advancing the agreed areas of cooperation and underscored Iraq’s readiness to collaborate closely with CDA in executing landmark Initiatives for the mutual benefit of both capitals.

As a gesture of goodwill and friendship, Muhammad Ali Randhawa presented a commemorative souvenir to H.E. Abdul Qadir Suleiman Al-Himeiri, marking the shared aspiration to further deepen bilateral relations between Iraq and Pakistan.
