A dignified mass wedding ceremony was organized , for the first in the history of Swat,for 29 underprivileged and orphan couples under the auspices of the Zakat and Ushr Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, with the support of the District Administration Swat.
The event took place in accordance with religious and cultural traditions, where 29 couples were formally married in a graceful ceremony. A simple yet elegant feast was arranged for the newlyweds and their families.
As part of this welfare initiative, each couple received a cheque worth PKR 200,000 from the Zakat and Ushr Department as a dowry fund, enabling them to begin their married life with financial ease and confidence.
The event was attended by a number of dignitaries, including Provincial Chairman of the Zakat and Ushr Council Imtiaz Ali Khan, Commissioner of Malakand Division Abid Wazir, Deputy Commissioner Swat Shehzad Mehboob, District Chairman Zakat and Ushr Malik Asif Ali Shehzad, Mayor of City Council Shahid Ali, Tehsil Chairman Kabal Saeed Khan, Tehsil Chairman Bahrain Mian Shahid Ali, district officials, village council chairmen, and representatives from various departments.
Speaking on the occasion, the speakers praised the initiative of the Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, calling it a reflection of social solidarity, individual dignity, and the fulfillment of state responsibility.
They highlighted that such programs not only support vulnerable segments of society but also contribute significantly to the promotion of Islamic values.
In the end, the guests congratulated the newlywed couples, offered prayers for their prosperous and peaceful married lives, and lauded the efforts of the provincial government and district administration for successfully organizing the event.
