ATTOCK, November 3, 2026: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz has announced plans to send a legal notice seeking damages to Federal Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain over his allegations of corruption in the Punjab government, challenging him to present evidence or face legal proceedings.

Addressing students in Attock on Tuesday, Maryam Nawaz questioned why Salik continued serving as a federal minister if he believed the government was corrupt.

She said the federal minister should substantiate his allegations rather than make accusations without evidence.

Maryam Nawaz maintained that she would pursue the matter in court if Salik failed to provide proof supporting his claims.

During her address, the chief minister also criticised political appointments made through personal recommendations, saying individuals appointed on such grounds could harm public institutions and national interests.

Turning to education, Maryam Nawaz said her visit was intended to recognise students’ academic achievements rather than merely distribute laptops and scholarships.

She described educational support as a right earned through students’ hard work, acknowledging that many young people had continued their studies despite financial difficulties and political pressures.

The chief minister said her administration was focused on addressing existing challenges rather than repeatedly highlighting past shortcomings.

She urged students to assess the government’s performance through its development initiatives and public service delivery.

Maryam Nawaz said financial constraints should no longer prevent deserving students from pursuing education, highlighting provincial programmes providing laptops, scholarships and motorcycles.

She announced that 300 Nawaz Sharif Schools of Eminence were being established across Punjab as part of efforts to improve educational opportunities.

The chief minister also reiterated her commitment to making Punjab safer for women and improving the quality of public schools and hospitals.

Highlighting sanitation initiatives, she said approximately 200,000 workers were engaged in maintaining cleanliness across the province under the Suthra Punjab programme.

Referring to development projects in Attock, Maryam Nawaz said 850 kilometres of roads had been constructed in the district over the past two years.

She added that green buses were already operating in Attock and announced plans to introduce additional buses, saying students would be invited to their inauguration.

The chief minister maintained that her government remained committed to improving education, infrastructure and public services across Punjab.
