LAHORE — Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif formally launched Phase-II of the Lahore Development Plan on Sunday, a project aimed at upgrading more than 6,000 streets across the city.
Scope of the development plan
Officials briefed the chief minister that 5,798 streets under the Lahore Municipal Corporation and 486 streets managed by WASA would be revamped by June 30 next year. A monthly schedule has been prepared to ensure progress across different neighborhoods in stages.
Focus on quality and timelines
Maryam Nawaz directed authorities to maintain strict standards during implementation, emphasizing that delays in completion would not be accepted. She underscored that the initiative must deliver durable improvements for residents.

The chief minister said the plan is designed to make every part of Lahore more livable, with upgraded streets contributing to cleaner and safer surroundings. She added that the project aims to enhance civic pride by addressing long-standing infrastructure issues.
