ISLAMABAD — Participants of the 8th Maritime Security Workshop (MARSEW-8) visited Naval Headquarters in Islamabad on Thursday, where they were briefed on Pakistan’s maritime security environment and related developments.
MARSEW-8 delegation meets naval chief
Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Naveed Ashraf met the MARSEW-8 delegation and discussed emerging maritime challenges and opportunities within the maritime domain. He also spoke about Pakistan’s blue economy and the Navy’s deterrence capabilities, along with its roles in regional maritime stability through participation in the Combined Maritime Forces and Regional Maritime Security Patrols.
Briefings cover maritime threats and coastal programmes
Earlier, MARSEW-8 participants were briefed on contemporary maritime threats, Pakistan Navy’s maritime domain awareness initiatives and development efforts in coastal communities.
MARSEW-8 brings together diverse national stakeholders
The delegation included parliamentarians, politicians, senior military officers, bureaucrats, media representatives, entrepreneurs, business leaders and academics. Officials said MARSEW-8 aims to enhance understanding of maritime security and the geopolitical significance of the Indian Ocean.
Workshop focuses on national maritime challenges
The eleven-day workshop provides a platform to discuss national maritime challenges, policy gaps and emerging opportunities within Pakistan’s maritime sector.
