Maritime security exercise Sea Guard-26 concludes in Karachi

Karachi, February 10, 2026 — Maritime security exercise Sea Guard-26 concluded in Karachi on Monday with a debrief session reviewing inter-agency coordination and response preparedness across Pakistan’s maritime sector. The exercise assessed how stakeholders share information and respond to potential contingencies at sea, underscoring the importance of coordinated maritime security.

The debrief was attended by Vice Admiral Raja Rab Nawaz, Chief of Staff, Pakistan Navy, who served as the chief guest. Officials from participating organizations were presented with an analytical overview of scenarios conducted during the exercise, focusing on operational readiness and the effectiveness of established response mechanisms.

Inter-agency coordination and operational focus

According to the navy, the chief guest commended the conduct of the exercise and highlighted the role of the Joint Maritime Information Coordination Centre (JMICC) in bringing together civilian and military stakeholders. He emphasized the need for sustained collaboration to protect maritime trade, infrastructure, and national interests.

Sea Guard-26 marked the third edition of the exercise series and included participation from government regulatory authorities, law enforcement agencies, private sector entities, and academic institutions. Operational activities covered port and harbour defence, protection of vessels and maritime infrastructure, counter-narcotics operations, and search and rescue missions.

The exercise aimed to strengthen collective preparedness across Pakistan’s maritime domain by testing coordination frameworks and enhancing shared situational awareness among stakeholders.
