MARDAN: District authorities have finalized preparations for the upcoming anti-polio campaign, with more than 405,000 children under five targeted for vaccination across Mardan from September 21 to 24.
A review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Mardan Eid Nawaz, with officials from relevant departments and representatives of the polio programme attending. The meeting reviewed vaccination arrangements, field deployment and measures to ensure maximum coverage.
Nearly 2,000 Mobile Teams to Visit Households
Officials briefed the meeting that 1,958 mobile vaccination teams have been formed to visit households and administer polio drops to children under five.
Another 83 teams will be deployed at hospitals and designated vaccination points to provide vaccination services during the four-day campaign.
A total of 585 supervisors will also be deployed in the field to monitor vaccination teams and oversee implementation of the campaign.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Eid Nawaz directed the relevant departments and polio teams to maintain effective coordination and complete all necessary arrangements. He stressed that no child under five should be missed during the campaign.
Parents Urged to Ensure Children Receive Polio Drops
Eid Nawaz urged parents to cooperate with vaccination teams and ensure that all eligible children receive polio drops.
He said polio is a dangerous disease that can cause lifelong disability and that its eradication requires collective efforts from parents, religious scholars, teachers, the media and other sections of society.
The additional deputy commissioner said public cooperation would be essential for the success of the campaign and for achieving the goal of making Mardan a polio-free district.
