Mardan Sets HPV Vaccination Target

MARDAN: Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance Mardan Jawad Ali has directed all relevant departments and institutions to utilize available resources and ensure close coordination for the successful implementation of the upcoming Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign.

A meeting chaired by Jawad Ali reviewed preparations for the campaign, including arrangements, the vaccination target, deployment of teams and coordination among various departments.

Representatives of the Health Department, Rescue 1122, Police, Ulema and other relevant departments and institutions attended the meeting.

The participants were informed that the HPV vaccination campaign will begin on November 11, 2026, targeting girls aged 9 to 14 years to help protect them against cervical cancer.

A target of 35,134 girls has been set for vaccination across Mardan district.

Officials said 17 fixed teams and 40 outreach teams have been constituted to ensure vaccination of eligible girls in their respective areas.

Meanwhile, 16 Union Councils have been declared high-risk areas, where special attention and targeted strategies will be adopted to ensure effective coverage and the success of the campaign.

ADC Jawad Ali directed the concerned authorities to make full use of available resources and take all necessary measures to achieve the prescribed vaccination target.

He also stressed the need for effective coordination among the Health Department, district administration, Police, Rescue 1122, Ulema and other relevant institutions throughout the campaign.

The Additional Deputy Commissioner further directed officials to organize orientation sessions for relevant staff, Ulema and other stakeholders. The sessions will provide comprehensive information about the campaign’s objectives, the importance of HPV vaccination and public awareness measures.

Jawad Ali emphasized the importance of raising awareness among parents and other segments of society about the benefits of HPV vaccination and its role in preventing cervical cancer.

He said effective public awareness and coordination would be essential to ensure that the maximum possible number of eligible girls receive the vaccine during the campaign.
