MARDAN: The annual elections of the Mardan Press Club were successfully concluded on Friday, resulting in the election of senior journalist Lutfullah Lutf as president and Hidayat-ur-Rehman Hoti as general secretary.
According to the election results, Arif Khan was elected vice president, Khursheed Wahab finance secretary, and Aamir Shoaib joint secretary.
The elections were conducted through a secret ballot, with a total of 15 votes cast. Several candidates, including Riaz Mayar, Pervaz Afridi, Faqir Hussain, Shah Hussain and Pervaz Shaheen, boycotted the polling process.

The electoral process was held under the supervision of Asif Iqbal, president of the District Bar Association Mardan. He was accompanied by other office-bearers of the association, including Zulfiqar Ali Khan Advocate (general secretary), Taimoor Khan Advocate, Ehtesham Khan, and Ashraf Khan Hoti, to ensure transparency, fairness, and a peaceful voting process.
Following the completion of the elections, Asif Iqbal Advocate formally issued the notification announcing the newly elected office-bearers.
Newly elected President Lutfullah Lutf and General Secretary Hidayat-ur-Rehman Hoti thanked the members of the Press Club, the election supervisors, and committee members for their confidence and support. They reaffirmed their commitment to addressing journalists’ issues, promoting press freedom, and enhancing the role and effectiveness of the Press Club.
Members of journalistic circles congratulated the newly elected leadership and expressed hope that the new office-bearers would take concrete steps to safeguard journalists’ rights and uphold professional standards in the district.
