MARDAN, September 29, 2026: Commissioner Mardan Division Habibullah Arif has directed relevant authorities to further improve healthcare facilities and services at hospitals and health centres across the division, while ordering stronger fire safety arrangements and improved facilities under the Health Card programme.
He issued the directives while chairing a high-level meeting to review healthcare services in Mardan and Swabi districts. District Health Officers, Medical Superintendents, senior officials of Mardan Medical Complex and Bacha Khan Medical Complex Swabi, Drug Inspectors and District Monitoring Officers attended the meeting.
The meeting received detailed briefings on the healthcare situation in both districts, including the availability of medical facilities, medicines, healthcare services and other essential requirements at public-sector hospitals.
Commissioner Habibullah Arif said providing quality and timely healthcare to the public was among the administration’s top priorities. He directed officials to ensure the availability of doctors, medical staff, medicines and other essential facilities so patients do not face unnecessary difficulties in obtaining treatment.
He also announced that he would personally visit hospitals across Mardan Division to inspect facilities and assess the quality of services being provided to patients. Officials were directed to pay particular attention to cleanliness, discipline, patient facilitation and other basic requirements.
Fire Safety Arrangements to Be Strengthened
The Commissioner ordered authorities to strengthen fire safety systems at hospitals and ensure that firefighting equipment remains available and fully functional.
He also stressed the importance of effective emergency exits and other safety measures to ensure hospitals are adequately prepared to deal with emergencies and protect lives.
Health Card Services Under Review
Habibullah Arif also directed officials to improve facilities available under the Health Card programme and ensure that beneficiaries do not face unnecessary difficulties in accessing treatment.
He called for regular monitoring of Health Card facilities and services being provided to patients to identify and address problems promptly.
The Commissioner appreciated the administration and health authorities in Swabi for maintaining adequate medicine supplies and directed them to sustain the existing arrangements.
He emphasized the need for close coordination among all relevant institutions to improve healthcare delivery across the division. The administration assured the Health Department of full cooperation in resolving issues and facilitating better public healthcare services.
The meeting also reviewed the overall performance of hospitals and health centres, medicine availability, medical facilities, Health Card services and fire safety arrangements, with necessary directives issued to the concerned authorities.
